Notes from the Chef, December 7, 2011: Chinese Restaurant!

December 7th, 2011

Today Gastronaut is taking you to our favorite Chinese restaurant for some Chinese-American treats! Many dishes of this American adaptation of Chinese cuisine were developed in San Francisco. For today’s lunch, enjoy a dish of Mongolian Beef, never-ever flank steak marinated in tamari, hoisin sauce and ginger. On the side, have a serving of fried rice, another staple of the Chinese restaurant. Be sure to try the mixed green salad with spicy pickled lotus root – lotus root is a very good source of Vitamin C, dietary fiber, and potassium. We hope you enjoy!
